Questions, answered.

Does it modify my USB?
No. CrateCheck is strictly read-only — it never writes a single byte to your drive. This is verified by an automated test suite that asserts zero writes across every scan, so the read-only guarantee is enforced by code, not just by promise.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After a one-time license activation that needs an internet connection, every scan runs fully offline. No data leaves your machine, and the app works at the venue, on the train, or anywhere with no connectivity.
Which players are supported?
Full verification covers the CDJ-2000 family, CDJ-900, CDJ-3000, XDJ-700/1000, XDJ-XZ and XDJ-RX2/RX3. Detection support (blank-playlist risk) extends to the CDJ-3000X, OPUS-QUAD, OMNIS-DUO and XDJ-AZ. Deeper OneLibrary content validation for next-generation players is on the roadmap.
Windows says "unrecognized publisher" — is this safe?
It is safe. The warning appears because the executable is new and has not yet built up code-signing reputation with SmartScreen. As more users install and run CrateCheck, the reputation grows and the warning fades. The binary is still signed; it simply hasn't earned Microsoft's trust threshold yet.
macOS asks for removable volume permission — why?
macOS requires explicit permission to read removable volumes, and scanning a USB is exactly that. CrateCheck needs read access to inspect your export — and only read access. Granting the permission lets the scan run; it does not give the app any write capability.
Can I use one license on multiple computers?
Yes. Each license covers up to 3 devices. You can move a license between machines using self-service deactivation in the app — deactivate on the old computer, activate on the new one. No support ticket required.
